Preheat oven to 350.
In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy (2-3 min).
Mix in egg and vanilla. Sprinkle cinnamon and baking powder over wet ingredients.
Add flour and oats and mix on low until combined. Gently stir in chocolate chips and dried cherries.
Chill dough for 30 minutes.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a baking mat. Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to scoop rounded balls of cookie dough. Place balls of dough 1 inch apart.
Flatten cookies just slightly with your fingers. Bake cookies for 9-11 minutes. They should look just underdone; they will finish baking as they cool.
Let cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then place cookies on a cooling rack to finish cooling.
