Slow Cooker BBQ Pulled Chicken

We’re painting and laying hardwood floors in our new house (I can’t wait to show some before and after pictures!), so we have family over all the time right now. I’m not very handy, so I’m pretty useless when it comes to helping with the floors. So my job is to keep people happy (read: fed). I’m pulling out all my easy, ready-whenever recipes to keep some variety going.
One of my favorite quick-and-easy meals when we’re having friends or family over is slow cooker bbq pulled chicken. It’s so easy, but adding just a few ingredients to bottled bbq sauce takes this chicken to over-the-top-amazing!
The bbq sauce can also be used as an amazing marinade for grilled chicken and pork chops, too!
A teacher-friend gave me this recipe, and everyone I have ever made it for absolutely raves about it. At your next family get-together, whip up this pulled chicken and you won’t have to worry about leftovers!
Our favorite ways to eat it are either on a bun or over mashed potatoes (try it!).
a quick and easy-to-put-together main dish with only 5 ingredients! 5 minutes prep, a few hours in the slow cooker, and you've got the most delicious bbq pulled chicken! serve over mashed potatoes or on a bun; use leftovers to make bbq chicken pizza.
- 2 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast
- 2 c. bottled barbecue sauce
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. bottled Italian dressing
- 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
-
In a bowl, combine barbecue sauce, brown sugar, dressing, and worcestershire.
-
Place chicken in slow cooker. Pour bbq over the top. Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours or high for 3 hours.
-
Using two forks, shred chicken. Stir, so sauce covers pulled chicken.

we love pulled chicken, so I’m not sure why I don;t make it more often, that marinade sounds absolutely delicious – good luck with the painting an floors –
Lisa
Once you make this one time, you’ll make it a lot more after that! And thank you – we’re getting close to finishing both the painting and flooring!

Mmm, this looks delicious! I’ve made something similar in our slow cooker a few times, but I’ve never tried this exact recipe. I’ll have to give it a shot!
Lisa
Thank you! I hope you enjoy it if you try it!

I love doing pulled meat in the slow cooker! It always turns out fabulous! This looks delicious!
Lisa
Thank you! I agree – slow cooker pulled meats turn out the most juicy, tender and flavorful!

Yum! Normally I do this with just chicken and barbecue sauce, but I bet the addition of that brown sugar really takes it to the next level 🙂 – Corey
Lisa
That’s how I used to do it too, but the brown sugar and Italian dressing just make it over-the-top amazing. Like, eat by the spoonful amazing (not that I would ever do that…haha.)

I usually do pulled pork but this sounds a little healthier. Thanks for the post!
Lisa
Definitely a little healthier than pulled pork – and just as delicious! Thank you!

I swear slow cookers are the best thing that were ever invented. I am definitely going to try out this recipe soon!

I know, right/ I swear by my slow cooker(s) – I could happily make every big family meal in them, alongside my instant pot!
Rachel

Yum, this looks so good! I made pulled pork for the first time last month, so now it’s time to move to pulled chicken. I love that it makes so much, which gives so many options of recipes to make
Lisa
The amount that it makes is one of my favorite things, because we use it in so many ways – on buns, over rice, over mashed potatoes, on pizza, on nachos, on tortillas for bbq burritos, etc!

Looks great! I always have the problem of my chicken drying out a bit in the slow cooker? Maybe just leaving it in too long?
Lisa
I’ve never had a problem with it drying out in this recipe – doe your slow cooker kick over to warm when it’s done? But the bbq sauce and the Italian dressing in this recipe really keep it moist!
