The September Date Night In theme was Love at Ease, and it was all about relaxing, moving slowly, and slowing down. Which, if you’re like us, with the craziness that comes starting in September and continuing through Christmas, is such a welcome relief.
Read on to hear all the awesomeness that was included in the September Date Night In box! And if you want to check out some other months’ boxes, here they are:
August (Island Adventure)
July (Dine & Dance)
June (1920’s)
May (Sensing More)
April (Let Love Grow)
March (80s/90s Throwback)
February (Parisian Love)
January (Engineering Love)
September Date Night In – Setting the Scene
The theme for this box was Love at Ease, and everything – from the food to the activities to the table talk – fit the bill. It was calming and soothing and so nice to take some time to slow down with my husband. As has been typical for the last several months, we were able to get two date nights out of our box! Can’t beat a biweekly date night for less than the cost of going to a movie!
The box included the typical date guide with activities, games, food ideas, table talk, and ideas for continuing the date. The games involved a dice rolling game and a crossword puzzle to share. Table talk was all about what prevents us from taking the time to relax and rest, and there were some great ideas for continuing and extending the date if you’ve got the time. While I don’t often make the recipes from the boxes at the time of the date (we usually have them at a different time), this month’s breakfast-for-dinner recipes just really seemed to be a necessary part of the chill-out vibe.
There were a few activities included to take the relaxing to the next step after the games. Couples yoga cards came in the box (and a video accompanied the card on the website). Plus there was massage oil, as well as a coffee and tea tasting setup. Just looking through the box when I got it made me super excited to have our dates!
Date Night #1
We wanted to do the coffee and tea tasting as our first date night, so I knew I needed to make the Cinnamon and Maple Coffee Creamer from the recipe card to go with the tasting. So good!
The box included something called a Brew Buddy, which is a little portable coffee and tea brewer.
The dice rolling game and the crossword puzzle were the perfect accompaniment to the coffee tasting.
Date Night #2
We saved Couples Yoga for the big portion of our second date night.
After we did yoga, I made breakfast sausage and pancakes with cinnamon apples for breakfast-for-dinner. It felt so comforting after the chill-out yoga session.
We played the Easy Rollin’ dice game again, too, because we enjoyed it a lot the first time around.
We didn’t use the massage oil, but we’ll save it for another date night for sure. It’s a great little extra!
September Date Night In – Overall Thoughts
I know I said I loved August’s Island Adventure box, but I think this one is tied with it for my favorite! I loved the activeness with August’s box, and in the exact opposite way, I loved the relaxing tone of the Love at Ease box this month.
Date Night In does a great job of fitting the theme to the month or time of the year, and I appreciate that so much! I feel like we got our money’s worth out of the box this month, and I enjoyed being able to add the yoga cards and the Easy Rollin’ game to our home collections. When there are things in the box that I can reuse (or pass on to my son, like the squirt guns from last month!), I feel even more like I’m getting my money’s worth. That way, if we want an extra date night – or if we don’t have our Date Night In some month – we’ve got activities and games that we already know how to play!
October’s theme is ‘Changing Seasons,’ which sounds heavenly!
