There are so many baby products out there on the market, and it can be overwhelming to read reviews, research and try to find the best options for your baby. If you’re looking for natural options without harsh chemicals – and you want products that work and that are affordable – I’ve got you covered. I’ve done the research for you, read the reviews, and tried the products. And now I’ve compiled a list of my favorite healthy baby care products that really work.
Note: I am not a doctor or pediatrician and I make no health claims about these products. But I simply believe in the ingredients and I’ve tried the products.
Whether you’ve got a newborn baby or an active one-year-old (or anything in between), these healthy baby care products are perfect additions to your medicine cabinet and your diaper bag.
Baby Products
Babyganics All Purpose Surface Wipes, Fragrance Free
These are similar to Clorox wipes, but without all the harsh chemicals. I use these to clean Camden’s toys and surfaces that he is touching a lot, like his highchair, toys at the doctor’s office, his car seat, tabletops at restaurants, etc. This product is made without ammonia, bleach, phthalates and sulfates, so it is a cleaning option I feel safe using around my one year old.
Babyganics Hand and Face Wipes, Fragrance Free
I carry these with me in my bag and in the diaper bag. I wipe Camden down after we play anywhere, like a playground, indoor playground, library, etc, especially during cold and flu season. These are so much better than regular wet wipes, because they’re actually meant to disinfect your little one’s hands and skin. There are no alcohol, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, artificial dyes or fragrances in these wipes, which make them a good choice for baby’s skin.
Huggies Natural Care Wipes, Unscented
These are my favorite wet wipes ever! We tried every wipe we could find – Wet Ones, Pampers Pure, Target brand, and on and on. The Huggies wipes are the only wipe that was really wet or that didn’t dry out after being opened for a day or that didn’t have only half the package wet. They’re pretty natural, and are fragrance free, alcohol free, parabens free, phenoxyethanol free and MIT free.
Bumkins Reusable Snack Bags
Camden is all about the snacks these days. So no matter where I go, I’m always taking snacks with me: puffs, teensy fruits, freeze dried strawberries, etc. I love these snack bags because they create less waste than disposable snack bags, and they don’t get holes poked in them when they’re knocked around in your bag like disposable ones. These snack bags are machine-washable, food safe, BPA Free, and top rack dishwasher safe. I absolutely love that I can throw these in the washing machine to clean them and get rid of any stains, residue, etc. Plus all the adorable patterns make me want to buy them all!
Babyganics Baby Sunscreen, SPF 50
We tried a couple different sunscreens, one that was full of waaaaay too many scary ingredients, and one that was natural, but just didn’t work. Babyganics is perfect for our baby: pretty natural, made without PABA, phthalates, parabens, fragrances or nano-particles, not too oily/greasy and it works.
Zarbee’s All Natural Baby Chest Rub
Camden suffered from colds all. winter. long. Cold after cold after cold. The congestion was the worst, because it made him cough and he couldn’t sleep because he was either too stuffed up to breathe or he was coughing so much. I didn’t want to use Vick’s VapoRub because the smell is terrible and there’s a lot of questionable ingredients. Maty’s Chest Rub, though, is a much better option. It contains lavender eucalyptus, and chamomile, and it does not contain menthol. It has an almost wintergreen smell to me – it’s actually a nice smell and not too overpowering, especially if you put it on baby’s feet.
Mrs. Meyer’s Baby Laundry Detergent, Baby Blossom
We used Dreft when Camden was a newborn. It worked well and got stains out, but I worried about the ingredients in it. This Mrs. Meyer’s detergent is a good alternative that still makes his clothes smell good.
Mommy’s Bliss Natural Gripe Water
This was a LIFESAVER! Camden got hiccups (and sometimes still does) all the time, and they stop him from sleeping. Hiccups also made it hard for him to eat when he was really little. When we give him a dropper-full of gripe water, his hiccups are gone instantly. I only use the Mommy’s Bliss brand because it’s all natural and doesn’t contain any sugar. Other ‘natural’ brands contain sugar, and it’s really just a sugar-water solution. This one is not full of sugar so I prefer it for Camden. It even has a dosing for adults, so if you have the hiccups that won’t go away, a dose will work for you too!
Babyganics Insect Repellent
I read and researched a ton of insect repellent options, because we have a ton of mosquitoes at our house. We needed a solid insect repellent that was safe for Camden, or we won’t ever be going outside. This Babyganics was my ultimate choice, because of the ingredient list (or lack of certain ingredients), and the scent – it smells lemony (in a very pleasant way) because of the essential oils in it. Even though this is marketed for babies, I’ll use this clear through Camden’s childhood for sure.
These are my favorite products that I’ve found in the past year. I’m still looking for a favorite baby shampoo – so far I’m not impressed with any natural baby shampoos that I’ve tried. Give me your best suggestions!
What other natural baby products do you love using for your baby?
