Easter Basket Fillers for Young Kids

This is what Camden’s Easter basket looks like this year. It’s pretty simple, but the things in it are things that he will LOVE. I included:

  • a Paw Patrol Marshall Beanie Boo – I grabbed this one at Barnes & Noble, but they’re at most stores. I’ve seen them at Joann’s, Kroger, Meijer, etc.
  • Paw Patrol Marshall t-shirt – this shirt came from Kohl’s. If you don’t shop at Kohl’s, you’re missing out. This shirt was on sale for $6, plus I used a 20% off coupon on it, so it was less than $5. They always have so many cute character shirts for boys and girls too!
  • GloPals light up water sensory cubes and pals – This is my favorite part of the basket. I got Camden red and green Glo Cubes for Christmas, and he has been obsessed with them. So I got him the blue and purple Pals for his basket, and as you’ll see below, cubes for the eggs!
  • Treats – Camden isn’t a huge candy eater, so I just got a 4 pack of Peeps on a stick and a white chocolate covered marshmallow egg.
  • Books – Books are part of every holiday gift, and Easter is no exception. My two favorites this year: Peter Easter Frog (sooooo funny!) and Pete the Cat and the 5 Little Bunnies.
  • Not pictured: a Paw Patrol fishing pole. Camden looooooves to pretend-fish, so we know he’ll love to learn to actually fish with Andrew. I like to make sure part or most of the basket is outdoor-themed anyway, since Easter leads into spring weather.

One Big Easter Gift

We always get one big Easter gift that doesn’t fit as an Easter basket or egg filler. This year, we splurged a little and got Camden this Step 2 Car Wash Coupe. The back is a water table with pipes and spouts leading to it, plus you can pour water in the top and wash and play with the windows in the front. Kids can also sit in it and pretend to drive.

We have a water table, but we can’t have an inflatable pool because our dog will pop it, so we decided to add a second fun water table station for him. I got it on sale at Kohl’s, plus I got $20 Kohl’s Cash from it, part of which was used for the Marshall t-shirt mentioned in the Easter basket!

I try to stick to outdoor toys for this big gift, so last year we got him a basketball hoop.

Easter Egg Fillers for Young Kids

Candy is an obvious easy choice, and probably the cheapest. But if you’re anything like us, your kids eat some of it, and the rest sits around and gets stale until you throw it away. Or maybe your kids eat all of it too fast and you don’t want that to happen either.

I got a variety of plastic egg sizes from Target and filled them with different things. I used:

  • Honest Kids Organic Juice pouches
  • GloPals glo cubes in yellow, blue and purple
  • snack-sized pouches of Easter trail mix
  • Annie’s sour bunny fruit snacks
  • a couple Scribble Scrubbies from Crayola (kids color on these with markers and then wash them off and start all over!)

I think Camden is going to love everything about Easter this year. He’s already been reading Easter books with me and talking about the Easter bunny hiding eggs for him. Does the Easter bunny come to your house? Or do your kids just know that you’re the one doing the hiding?
