5 Products for Couples Who Are Trying to Conceive
If you’ve been around here for any length of time at all, you know we struggled with with infertility for 15 months with Camden, and we’re even deeper – almost 2 years – into secondary infertility with a second child. So, let me tell you, I’ve tried ALLLLL the things. Here are 5 products for couples who are trying to conceive that we’ve actually tried and used.
Note: we’re not pregnant yet. So I can’t say that any of these products is ‘the key,’ but they are things that I can tell have made a difference in our journey.
5 Products for Couples Who Are Trying to Conceive
SmileReader Ovulation Test Kit
“I received this product for

honest opinions. Compensation for this post was provided

We’ve been testing and tracking ovulation for literal years at this point. If I never have to do one again, I’d be glad. However, when we were sent SmileReader to try, I was so upset that I didn’t know it sooner.
SimleReader test strips come in different sizes and there is an amazing app for the test. After you test, you scan in the test, and it keeps track of your LH levels. It tells you when it’s time to try and when to wait. When it’s time to try, you’ll see a home screen of a cute baby.
Plus, instead of keeping track of the start of your cycles and everything that happens within it in your phone calendar, it’s all in this nice little app. If you want to see exactly how it works, SmileLab has a Youtube video to show you!
You can get 20% off the SmileReader 50 LH + 20 HCG kit on Amazon.com with the promo code SMILE5020 through December 31, 2020. These aren’t any more expensive than your typical test strips, so why would you not want the added security of the app helping you track? Yeah, I’m with you.
To me, ovulations test strips are one of your best products for couples trying to conceive, because it arms you with the knowledge of what is happening in your body.
PreMama Wellness Products
I started using PreMama Wellness back when we were trying to conceive Camden. The tasteless powder that goes in your drink helps improve your egg quality, which gives you a better chance of conceiving. We haven’t used it as much this time around, and I regret that. I really do think it helps out!
You can get the drink for her and for him, or just do one or the other. Plus, on Amazon, they’ve got a deal when you add it to your Subscribe & Save (which you can cancel or skip anytime)!
Prenatal Vitamin
I’ve run the gamut with these suckers; I took for 15 months of TTC, 9 months of pregnancy, plus 18 months of breastfeeding with Camden, and now almost 2 years with this round. So far, I’ve liked: PreMama prenatal, Rainbow Light and Persona.
I will say: when I was pregnant with Camden, I switched to a gummy prenatal for the first trimester. I had really bad nausea, and I read that prenatals with iron can make nausea and morning sickness worse. Gummies don’t have iron, but I switched back to a different one as soon as the nausea mostly subsided.
Phthalate-Free Home and Body Products
Phthalates have been proven to inhibit fertility, and you may not even realize how many products they’re in. We had to switch out cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, body wash, shampoo, makeup, and so. much. more.
A Date Box
I’m not going to tell you ‘just relax, it’ll happen,’ because that’s a giant load of b.s. That’s like telling someone they can just relax their diabetes away.
But, when you’re deep in the midst of infertility or trying to conceive, your life revolves around the process. Every month you keep track of every single day, you wait in anticipation/dread, you cycle through sadness and grief back to hopefulness.
It really takes a toll on your mental health and your relationship. So Andrew and I have found that it’s really important to take some time to make sure we’re having fun and doing something where we’re not talking about infertility life at all. For us, since there’s a pandemic and we can’t go anywhere, that means we’ve been trying date night boxes. For you, that might be movie night or board game night. Whatever it is, build the time in.
Whatever stage of the process you’re in – whether you’re just starting out or you’re two years deep like we are – I’m sending you all the good baby dust!
