I’ve started following the advice of Joel Marion and his new book, Always Eat After 7 PM. I’m excited to share my progress with you!

When I started this book, my goal was simply to fit into my jeans more comfortably. I’m still working toward that goal, but I definitely feel a difference in the past two weeks. I’m not weighing myself, so I can’t speak to numbers, but I just wanted to feel better about myself.

Mostly, I want to feel good about the meal choices I’m making most of the time, so that when I want to splurge, I don’t have to feel guilty about it. Two nights ago we had healthy chicken burgers and veggies, and last night we splurged with a homemade creamy chicken poblano soup. Now tonight, I’m making a chicken fajita skillet from Always Eat After 7 PM, and I know that it will be both healthy and delicious!

The Importance of Meal Planning – Always Eat After 7 PM

One of the things I feel like I’m doing best is meal planning. When you’re following a plan, it’s super important to meal plan, but the time it takes is sometimes overwhelming. Luckily, the author, Joel Marion, makes it so easy and straightforward to plan your week (or even two weeks!) of meals – just plug in a choice to the lunch/dinner/snack categories and you’re good to go!

And the best part? There are a ton of amazing recipes in the book – your family won’t even know they’re part of a ‘healthy eating plan.’ But if you don’t want to have to make recipes, you can easily fill your meal plan with simple foods, like chicken breast and a cup of berries. This plan is all about eating whole foods, and whole foods are simple to prepare!

Here’s a quick excerpt from the book:

“Specific higher-carbohydrate foods (including berries and cherries) support your fat-burning metabolism while you sleep, providing your body with a steady stream of fuel throughout the night. The trick is knowing how to combine them with other evening and pre-bedtime fat-burning foods to fuel your metabolism as you sleep.”

I can’t make lifestyle changes that include giving up fruit – to me, I can’t get behind fruit being seen as unhealthy. So I’m all about this because you’re encouraged to eat fruit, as long as you combine them with the right foods!

Like I said earlier, there are so many great recipes in this book – you could buy it for the recipes alone, never mind the plan!
