The Best Part of Christmas This Year (Baby’s First Christmas!)

Our little family had a fantastic Christmas – our first one with a child.

We celebrated with my extended family a week before Christmas, and we’ll see Andrew’s family this weekend, so Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were just for the three of us.

On Christmas Eve, we had dinner at Olive Garden and drove through some big light displays in town. Nothing fancy, just tradition for Andrew and me.

Christmas Day was a day for staying home. We took videos of Camden learning to tear wrapping paper off gifts, and he spent his day climbing on everything (he loves this climbing set that he got!) and playing with the soft footballs he got in his stocking. We wore matching family pajamas, ate sausage bread, made a mess with our wrapping paper and gifts, and went for a walk.

I absolutely loved having Christmas with our baby boy. He’s 11 months old, so he didn’t really understand what was going on, but he was certainly excited about all the new things to play with. And he loves looking at the Christmas tree.

But the best part of Christmas this year?

Camden took his first steps!

He’s been pulling up and cruising since he was 7 months old. He’s been trying to take one or two steps for a few weeks now. And on Christmas Day, he started walking! He walked from mama to daddy and from daddy to mama on those shaky, chubby baby legs, and he giggled and grinned the whole way! He was so proud of himself (and we were too).

Nothing compares to the joy of seeing your child so proud of something he worked so hard to accomplish.

Best. Christmas. Ever. (At least until next year, right?)

(and Gwen was pretty cute, too:)  )
